"The question of reaching sustainability is not about if we will have enough energy, food, or other tangible resources... The question is, will there be enough leaders in time?"
- Karl Henrik Robert, Founder of The Natural Step
Are you concerned about climate change? Do you want to take action? Can you imagine a clean energy future and feel an intense desire to switch Canada onto that path? Do you want to deepen your understanding of the issue and meet other likeminded people? Are you a student or youth itching to get organized on your campus or in your community? Then the Climate Strategy Retreat is for you.
WHAT: A 3 day retreat with an experienced facilitator and student and youth activists from Ontario and Quebec
WHERE: The Art of Living Ashram, outside Trois Rivieres, Quebec
WHEN: March 5-7, 2010
COST: $200. Several student unions and associations are partnering in the retreat to cover costs for students from their schools. Visit the Campus Partner and Registration pages for more details.
From Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, participants will explore the history of the environmental movement, share their own stories, hopes and dreams, learn what strategy is and how to develop one, and have a relaxing and restful time dining on delicious vegetarian meals and engaging in mindfulness activities led by the team at the Art of Living. A key focus of this retreat is sustainable activism and spiritual groundedness. Participants need to bring their own toiletries and towels, but everything else is provided.
The following universities are signed on as partners. If you are a student at one of them and wish to attend the retreat, please contact your campus rep. That info is available on the campus partner page.
